Pierre Ackerman is an expert in the field of forest engineering, including road construction and harvesting. He has many years of experience as an operational forest manager before taking early retirement and returning to his studies at the age of 40. He graduated as the top student in his class and has stayed at the University of Stellenbosch since then, being employed as a lecturer before completing his postgraduate training. He has attended courses in forest certification and has worked as a specialist auditor since 2000 for FSC certifications.
