Anne Danby’s principal interests are mycology, entomology and general
woodland and forest ecology. These have been exercised in East Africa,
Portugal, England, Wales, Scotland and a small island in the Bristol
Channel.
She is a BTEC Level 3 assessor, having successfully guided volunteers
through BTEC in Tropical Habitat Conservation, and is a qualified PAT
tester.
Anne’s particular aptitudes include strenuous field work: she has collected
data from Mount Kenya and Kilimanjaro, the wild miombo bush of the Kilombero
Valley, as well as from the Himalayas in northern India, training and
supervision, and management of events. She organised the 1999 Forest
Pathologist Group Meeting held in Wales, the British Association for Science
Activities Weeks at the University of Cardiff and the Stakeholder Workshop
for FSC and ISO certification of KVTC held in Tanzania. She has presented
lectures, posters and contributed to workshops at a large number of
conferences, including the International Congress of Plant Pathologists, the
British Ecological Society, CABI Ganoderma Workshop, and the IUCN Upstream
Downstream Stakeholder Workshop on the Great Rufiji River Basin. Anne’s
training skills have been honed through years of supervising student
projects and practical work, volunteers on research expeditions, and BTEC
assessment.
Anne is a confident traveller, and enjoys learning new languages and
collecting new experiences.
